We Are Here
Dear Parents,
I am an art teacher from KGV but also an artist over the past year I’ve been working on a project “ We Are Here “ it’s an independent multimedia art project which aims to raise awareness for refugees in Hong Kong. The paintings, photos and videos created are the culmination of working with the refugee community for the last six months. As part of the awareness campaign I would like to invite all the school children from KGV, KJS and SRJC to be part of a piece of ‘Live art’. To do this I need your help to engage the students in to ACTION.
There will be an assembly on June 13th. The assembly will be held at 10.25 am at KGV and repeated at KJS at 11.45 am. The assembly will have a speaker from the Refugee community and an African drumming performance. Students will learn about the problems facing Refugees and how to be part of the ‘Live art’ experience that will take place on June 20th on KGV school field.
We would like the school children to donate towards the cost of a mask that they will wear in a piece of installation art. They will all go on to the KGV field on June 20th-‘World Refugee Day’. We can show the world that we support the Refugee community and raise awareness.
Please go to the facebook page to help gain an understanding of the project:
