Student Health and Wellbeing

Student Health & Wellbeing

The JCSRS High 5

Resources and Useful Information

At JCSRS, we do all we can to provide a happy, safe and healthy environment for our students, through pursuit of the following school-wide priorities:

  • The encouragement of healthy eating and effective, balanced nutrition
  • The promotion of exercise and physical activity
  • The learning of resilience skills
  • The pursuit of emotional health and wellbeing

Our School Nurse will care for your child if they become unwell or are hurt at school, and we will contact you to inform you of the situation. If your child is not well enough to return to class after seeing the nurse, we will contact you to arrange for you (or a designated person) to take your child home.

The medical room is equipped with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and other first-aid equipment. We give appropriate care for illness or accidents and liaise with students’ family members.

Administration of Medication in School

Prescribed medication is administered following submission of the appropriate medication administration forms.

Department of Health’s Services

We cooperate with the Department of Health and the Centre for Health Protection to organise the following:

  • Student Health Service is carried out in a Student Health Service Centre. It includes physical examination, screening for health problems related to growth, nutrition, blood pressure, vision, hearing, spine, psychological health and behaviour, individual health counselling and health education.
  • School Dental Care Service is carried out at 3/F Argyle Street Jockey Club School Dental Clinic by qualified dental therapists or trainee dental therapists who work under the supervision of dental surgeons to promote good oral hygiene and prevent common dental diseases.
  • Hong Kong Childhood Immunisation Programme. Vaccinations are provided at school by the DH’s outreaching School Immunisation Teams to eligible students.

Parents are required to maintain updated medical information on the Gateway.

You can contact our School Nurse by calling the school office at 2761 9893 or at nurse@jcsrs.edu.hk.

Please help us in encouraging concern for others and developing good health practices by observing the recommendations below:

At JCSRS you are always able to speak with your son/daughter’s class teacher, therapists or a member of the senior leadership team to discuss issues and share ideas. We are also aware that from time to time families may need the help of outside specialist counselling and support services. This list of both public and private services provides some suggestions and is by no means exhaustive. Please ask us if we can help you further or connect you to an appropriate service.
