Principal’s Message
Here it is again, the end of another term. It’s been busy so we are all looking forward to some rest and relaxation. This week we celebrated the end of our unit ‘Materials Matter’ with a hands on summative assessment activity in the form of a Science Fair. Again we had the help of students from KGV and the teachers and therapists all contributed ideas and supervision of activities. Special thanks to Lorna and Jackie for their organisation. The students were real stars.
From time to time we have a ‘clear out’ of items in our cupboards and we happily donate to local organisations. The therapy team recently visited Shine Therapy Centre in Kowloon to give them some toys and other helpful resources.
Our students have also had the privilege of time with the Hong Kong University Speechian’s Union. An enthusiastic and energetic group of speech therapists who love to work with our students. You can see the pictures later in the newsletter.
All our students (and staff) love music so it was a real pleasure to listen to a small group from the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra on Tuesday afternoon.
Congratulations to Hugh Allum-Pearce (Jade class) who has been selected to be a Celebrity Runner (Special Olympics Athletes) at the Hong Kong Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. You can support Hugh by running along with him on Sunday 30th April 10.00 – 1.00 at the Shatin sports ground.
I also hope many of you can be at the opening of Hon Shan’s first solo art exhibition. You can see all the information below.
An Easter party with KGV peers is a great way to end the term.
Wishing you all a happy Easter
Safe and happy holidays
See you again on Tuesday 18th April

Hong Kong University Speechian’s Union
Cheryl and ‘The University of Hong Kong Speechian’s Union’ jointly organized an Easter activity for our students this week. The activity was split into two days on March 21 and March 23 involving 35 JCSRS students and 35 volunteers. Students were paired 1:1 engaging in fun activities and the volunteers gained valuable experience working with our students. The activities included following directions for colouring an Easter bunny, making bunny ears using paper plates and an interactive Easter egg hunt story.

Hon Shan’s Solo Art Exhibition

Ming Pao Daily News and Sky Post today featured Hon Shan Cheng, a student from ESF Jockey Club Sarah Roe School, after our press release was published yesterday. The stories mentioned that the 19-year-old talented artist will be holding his first solo art exhibition starting from 2 April 2017 at Art and Culture Outreach (ACO) in Wan Chai, showcasing around 15 of his art pieces.
The stories also mentioned that Hon Shan showed signs of autism when he was a child, but with support from his family and school, he saw a positive development and discovered his talents in music and arts. Click HERE to read more.
